Sarah Margolis-Pineo is a curator, writer, and educator

specializing in contemporary craft and design. 


Currently, Sarah is Curator of Hancock Shaker Village, (Pittsfield, MA), where she oversees the exhibition and stewardship the Museum's 22,000 object collection and 20 historic buildings, in addition to working with contemporary artists, designers, and makers to coordinate site-responsive projects. Previously, she has held positions in the curatorial departments of the American Folk Art Museum, (New York, NY), Frye Art Museum, (Seattle, WA), Museum of Contemporary Craft, (Portland, OR), Cranbrook Art Museum, (Bloomfield Hills, MI), Planting Fields Foundation, (Oyster Bay, NY), Institute of Contemporary Art, (Philadelphia, PA), and Maine Historical Society, (Portland, ME). Additionally, she continues to serve as an instructor, mentor, and guest critic to graduate-level students receiving their MFA degrees in Craft and Applied Craft + Design at Oregon College of Art and Craft and Pacific Northwest College of Art, (Portland, OR). Sarah contributes to numerous print publications and online art journals, notably: Bitch Magazine; Journal of Modern Craft; Surface Design Association Magazine; Daily Serving in partnership with Art Practical; Art21; and Bad at Sports: Contemporary Art Talk.


In 2017, Sarah co-founded Lone Pine Farm & Studio, an agri-cultural incubator and artist residency on

Bainbridge Island, Washington that, in 2018, relocated to Chesterfield, Massachusetts.
